WHO WE ARE

Teignbridge Homeless Action Today (THAT) food bank is a small, locally based registered charity.  It is overseen by trustees and an executive committee with a manager responsible for the daily running supported by a group of dedicated volunteers.

THAT was set up in 2011, initially to address the needs of rough sleepers but, at the request of Social Services and the local council, it soon developed into a much needed food bank.

We moved to our current premises - T.H.A.T. Place on Buckland in 2014 - where we have storage and an office space.  We receive no Government support and rely entirely on fundraising, grants and donations.

We supply food and toiletry packs tailored to meet our clients' needs.  These are collected or delivered by volunteers to our clients.

Although a lot of the food comes from donations at local supermarkets, companies and banks, we have to buy additional items to supplement these supplies.

We also provide home start-up packs for people moving into new premises and offer fuel meter top ups and bus tickets where required.

We work closely with partner agencies such as CAB, CAP, DCH, the local housing department, housing associations, drug and alcohol projects, children’s charities, doctors, schools etc.

We aim to offer a friendly, non-judgemental and positive welcome to vulnerable claimants in financial difficulty in Teignbridge.
