Who are THAT?
We are Teignbridge Homeless Action Today (THAT Food Bank), a non-profit organisation based in Buckland which is actively working to alleviate poverty in our community.
We aim to assist our clients by supplying them with essential items such as food, toiletries and home start packs, providing fuel key top ups and offering information and a place to chat.
As well as helping members of the community with issues that need immediate attention, we also strive to ensure that our clients have fewer problems in the future by working together to address the underlying issues that are causing the problem and taking steps to minimise them.
WE HAVE BEEN AWARDED THE QUALITY ASSURANCE MARK.
HELP FROM LOCAL STORES
We couldn't do our vital work without the help and support of local stores. We collect non-perishable food donated at Tesco's, ASDA, Ley Lane Convenience store, Abbotskerswell Village Store and Blackpool School. We also receive fresh short dated food from Tesco's, Aldi and Co-op, and hold collection days at ASDA and Tesco's. Special thanks to Tesco's community champion - Janette.
Why is THAT important?
Poverty isn't a problem which only affects developing countries. Did you know that 1 in 5 people in the UK are living below the poverty line? There are 2.3 million children living in poverty in this country and 63% of these are in a family in which someone works.
According to surveys, Teignbridge is the most deprived area in Devon and Buckland and Milber are "in the most deprived 10% of all areas in the country".
This is why charities like THAT are so important to our community. We aim to provide individuals and families living in poor conditions with much-needed support whilst working to eradicate deprivation and poverty.

COOK BOOK
We now have a new simple basic cook book based on a food pack and some fresh food which we can provide.
